Getting the EP Ready

I am almost done with this round of songs… just a few left to finish off then we’re gonna pick the three best and make an EP.

I said I would tell you more about Michael Steele so I’ll do it now. Michael (I’ve never called him Mike, he doesn’t seem like a Mike to me) was a top DJ in LA for years and from there moved into all sorts of work in the industry. He knows a lot about radio and a lot of people in the business. He heard my CD a few months ago and we hit it off. He liked the last CD a lot, but when he heard the new songs I was writing he thought some record industry people he knew should hear me. A few days later I was in the offices of a mid sized record label. They liked what they heard and we all decided I should go home and write myself blind so we had a lot of material to choose from for an EP.

Over The next few weeks it’s all about getting a bunch of songs finished and getting roughs recorded. The picture shows my high tech, state of the art work space that needs to be cleaned like the room of a nine year old.

Yesterday I spent hours on one song, rewriting the guitar part, changing the melody, playing with the tempo, etc. Then, after hours of work, you sit down to listen to the whole thing for the first time and that’s when the magic happens… The song is terrible. No question about it, really bad.

So, we start over…
